Static vs Dynamic QR Codes
The key differences between static and dynamic QR codes, and when each makes sense.
What is a static QR code?
A static QR code stores your information directly inside the code itself. The URL, text, Wi-Fi credentials, or contact details are encoded in the QR code's data modules at the moment of generation. Once created, the content cannot be changed. Because the data lives in the code, a static QR code never expires and does not depend on any server, subscription, or account.
What is a dynamic QR code?
A dynamic QR code stores a short redirect link instead of the final content. When scanned, the redirect link forwards the user to the actual destination. Because the destination is controlled by a server, it can be changed after the code is printed. Dynamic codes also enable scan tracking — counting how many times the code was scanned, where, and when. However, they depend on a hosting service, may expire if the subscription lapses, and often require a paid plan.
Key differences
| Feature | Static | Dynamic |
|---|---|---|
| Content stored in code | Yes | No (redirect link) |
| Editable after creation | No | Yes |
| Expires | No | Can expire |
| Requires server | No | Yes |
| Scan tracking | No | Yes |
| Cost | Free | Often paid |
Which type does Veyqora generate?
Veyqora currently creates static QR codes only. Your information is encoded directly in the code, so there is no redirect link, no tracking, and no dependency on a Veyqora server. The codes you download will keep working indefinitely as long as any destination (like a website) remains available.
When static is the right choice
- • You want a permanent code with no ongoing cost or maintenance.
- • You do not need scan tracking or analytics.
- • The destination is unlikely to change.
- • You want the code to work offline (for text, Wi-Fi, contacts).
When dynamic might be preferable
- • You need to change the destination after printing.
- • You want to track scan counts and locations.
- • You are running a time-limited campaign.
Veyqora does not offer dynamic QR codes. If you need those features, a dedicated dynamic QR service may be more appropriate for that specific use case.
